BMW Not Starting? Here’s An Easy Way To Diagnose That!

If you’re wondering what’s happening with your BMW and why it’s not starting, here’s an easy way to diagnose that problem.

Have you checked your trunk and probably thought that the problem has something to do with IBS, RandomFix has the answer for you, click here? You can also check the blog about it here. And if you’re detecting the problem is only of your BMW vehicle that doesn’t start and the vehicle’s not cranking over, we’ll tackle that problem here.

Here’s what you need to have: grab a long screwdriver, long enough to get in between spaces of the six cylinders, a test light, a jumper cable, and a helper.

Now that you know what you need for an easy car diagnosis, start by checking your negative port with your test light, then, proceed to checking the positive one. The positive port should always have power and lead straight to the starter. If you don’t have power under this red cap, check the positive battery terminal.

Bigger terminal: starter side that comes from the side of the battery starter that will always be hot. The solenoid side: negative, until it gets a signal coming from the ignition making it briefly hot enabling the starter to engage.

Assuming that both ports are working fine upon inspection, proceed to look for the big (wad?) of wires where the screwdriver is going to be and lay it there. Ask your helper to get inside the driver’s seat and crank the car while maintaining your position in front of the engine and see what’s going to happen. When your help buddy cranks the motor, have your test light perpendicular to the long screwdriver you’ve positioned in the (what do call where the screwdriver is touching? What part of the engine?) You should be getting a positive signal. Touching the positive terminal, you should be getting the red light, always positive.

Have your helper start the car. You should see the test light from a blue color turn into red briefly, quickly turning back into blue. The red light is a sign that the starter is getting a signal and you’re not getting a crank.

Inspect the starter and try to see what’s causing it.
