Real-World Stress Testing
1. The Heavy Diesel Sprinter Test
To make this test as brutal as possible, I completely disconnected the 12V negative terminal on our Mercedes Sprinter van. The van was getting absolutely zero power from its own battery.
Next, I hooked up a tiny lawnmower battery that was completely dead (dropping under 10 volts) to act as a liability, forcing the jump pack to do 100% of the heavy lifting. When a diesel Sprinter’s glow plugs heat up, they pull a massive 100 amps by themselves before the engine even cranks, requiring roughly 760 cold cranking amps to start.
The mid-tier JNQ-08 (rated at 720 stable cranking amps) fired the diesel Sprinter right up without hesitation. It offered the fastest lawnmower crank I’ve ever seen in my life. Because it handled that setup so smoothly, the heavy-duty JNQ-13 handled the diesel load with absolute ease.
2. We Literally Melted Our Load Tester
We moved over to a professional load tester to see how long these packs could hold high voltage under sustained stress.
- The compact JNQ-06 held a heavy load perfectly for a solid 10 seconds—ideal for small to medium cars.
- The JNQ-08 refused to give up, pumping out so much sustained raw power that the load tester’s internal coils started smoking and caught on fire!

It packs so much punch that it instantly fried our brand-new replacement load tester right out of the gate. Unless you’re trying to start a jumbo jet, these packs have all the cranking power you will ever need.
3. Marscle Compressor vs. The DeWalt Drag Race
The JNQ-08 and JNQ-13 both feature built-in air compressors. We tested them on a massive 9,000lb camper van, airing the tires up from 30 to 50 PSI, and then pushing them through the brutal 50 to 70 PSI range where most portable compressors overheat and quit.
The JNQ-13 inflated the tire twice as fast as the JNQ-08. What We Loved:

- The Extra 2 Inches: The air hose on the Marscle units is about 2 inches longer than standard options. If your tire valve stem stops at the 12:00 position on a tall truck or van tire, that extra length keeps the compressor sitting safely on the ground instead of dangling in the air and putting stress on the valve.
Areas for Improvement:
- The Screw-On Air Chuck: The included air hose requires you to manually twist it onto the valve stem. I worry that over time you could strip the brass threads. I highly recommend spending a few bucks to add a quick-release speed air chuck adapter to eliminate the twisting altogether.
Final Verdict: Which One Should You Buy?
If you only have small or medium commuter cars and just want a compact safety net in the glovebox, the JNQ-06 is a solid, space-saving choice.
If you want a dependable emergency backup that covers both dead batteries and flat tires for standard trucks and SUVs, the JNQ-08 is an excellent tier-A tool.
